Valve has opened Steam Frame reservations and confirmed launch pricing. The wireless SteamOS VR headset starts at $1,059 for the 256GB kit and $1,299 for the 1TB kit. According to Valve coverage including The Verge, sign-ups opened on September 14, 2026 and close on September 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Valve is using the same randomized reservation queue it used for the Steam Machine.

Steam Frame reservation status
This is not a first-come, first-served pre-order. Sign up on Steam for the 256GB or 1TB kit before the cutoff. Valve then randomizes each list once. On September 17 it emails whether you landed in the reservation queue or on the waitlist. The first purchase invitations go out on September 18. When you get an offer, you have 72 hours to check out. You cannot change the storage model after the confirmation email. Sign-ups after the cutoff go to the end of the waitlist.
Eligibility, matching the Steam Machine launch:
- A Steam account in good standing
- At least one Steam purchase made before April 27, 2026
- Limit of one sign-up per household (payment method, shipping address, and other account signals)
Valve sells the headset directly in the US, Canada, UK, EU, and Australia. Pricing for Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong is handled by distributor KOMODO. Reservation-queue units are expected to ship as inventory is ready, with Valve aiming to fulfill that first group before the end of 2026.

Other launch prices reported for the 256GB / 1TB kits: $1,529 / $1,859 CAD, €1,049 / €1,279, £889 / £1,089, $1,609 / $1,969 AUD. Both kits include the headset, Steam Frame Controllers, a Wi-Fi 6E USB adapter for PC streaming, and a copy of Half-Life: Alyx (native ARM build plus PC streaming). If you already own Alyx, Valve does not give a second giftable copy.
A power supply is not in the box. Valve sells a 45W USB-C PSU for $29. A Steam Deck charger or any USB-C charger rated 45W or higher also works. Optional Valve accessories: Ergonomic Accessories Kit $59, Accessory Replacement Kit $49. Partner accessory: Arcturus Vision Camera $149 for color passthrough and spatial video (the headset’s built-in passthrough is monochrome).

Where to buy Steam Frame
The only official launch channel is the Steam Store reservation page. Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and Newegg do not have confirmed Valve listings at launch. Watch eBay for scalpers after purchase emails go out; paying above MSRP there is optional and not Valve’s sales path.
