Nikon Z5IIC pre-order status

Pre-orders are not open because Nikon has not announced the camera. Nikon Rumors says Nikon plans to reveal the Z5IIC next week. The name is Nikon Rumors’ spelling and reads as a compact Z5II; it is not a confirmed product code. There is no official photo of this body.

When Nikon confirms the camera, authorized dealers such as B&H, Adorama, Amazon, Focus Camera, and Nikon Store often open pre-orders the same day. Compact full-frame bodies can sell through early allocations quickly, so it is worth watching more than one retailer.

Rumored specifications

The list below is compiled from Nikon Rumors’ September 18, 2026 report. Nikon has not confirmed these figures.

  • Model: Nikon Z5IIC (rumored compact version of the Z5II)
  • Position: Competition to the Sony a7C series
  • Mount: Expected Nikon Z (interchangeable-lens body, not a fixed-lens compact)
  • Sensor: Full-frame, about 24 MP (the current Z5II is 24.5 MP; that does not prove it is the same sensor)
  • Stabilization: IBIS listed by Nikon Rumors; no stop rating published
  • Viewfinder: Nikon Rumors currently lists no viewfinder. The same report has also used “no viewfinder or no-viewfinder bump (built-in viewfinder).” Neither version is locked.
  • Video: “New video features” only — no codecs, frame rates, or recording limits
  • Price / kits / ship date: Not reported

There is no leaked chassis, no kit-lens SKU, and no dollar figure on that post. Treat any extra spec lists circulating elsewhere as speculation unless Nikon or a second primary source confirms them.

How this compares with the Nikon Z5II

The Nikon Z5II that is already on sale is a conventional EVF-hump body. Nikon announced it on April 3, 2025 at $1,699.95 body-only ($1,999.95 with the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3, $2,499.95 with the 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR). Confirmed Z5II hardware includes a 24.5MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor, EXPEED 7, 5-axis VR rated 7.5 stops center / 6.0 stops at the edges, nine-subject AI AF, a 3000 cd/m² EVF, a 3.2-inch vari-angle monitor, and about 134 x 100.5 x 72 mm / 700 g with battery and card.

If the Z5IIC rumor is right, the C would be the smaller rangefinder-style alternative — closer to Sony’s a7C line — rather than another conventional Z5II grip. That is a body-style change, not proof that EXPEED 7, 4K 60p, N-RAW, or the Z5II battery carry over unchanged.

Nikon Z5IIC FAQ

Is the Nikon Z5IIC officially announced?

No. Nikon has not announced a Z5IIC. The current report is from Nikon Rumors on September 18, 2026.

When will Nikon announce the Z5IIC?

Nikon Rumors says next week from that September 18 post — the week of September 21, 2026. Nikon has not confirmed a date.

How much will the Nikon Z5IIC cost?

No price has leaked. The existing Z5II launched at $1,699.95 body-only. Do not treat that as the Z5IIC MSRP.

Does the Nikon Z5IIC have a viewfinder?

Unconfirmed. Nikon Rumors has listed no viewfinder, and has also allowed a built-in finder with no viewfinder bump. Wait for Nikon’s product photos.

Is Nikon Z5IIC available for pre-order?

No. Pre-orders are not open. Use the table above and the email alert on this page for updates.

Is this the same as Nikon’s rumored fixed-lens compact?

Nikon Rumors frames the Z5IIC as an a7C-class interchangeable-lens camera based on the Z5II. That is separate from earlier 2026 chatter about an unnamed no-EVF fixed-lens compact.
